Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) carefully before using the Piefect App and associated services (the “Service”) operated by Piefect Inc. (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement. You agree to comply with these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any other legal notices or policies posted by us.
Piefect is a mobile and/or web-based application developed by Piefect Inc. that allows users to:
- Create, track, and manage shared expenses;
- Input expenses manually or via scanned receipts;
- Allocate or split costs among participants;
- In the future, settle shared costs via integrated payment functionalities.
We may add, remove, or modify features at any time without prior notice.
To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration;
- Maintain the security of your account credentials;
- Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for any violation of these Terms.
4. User Responsibilities
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Impersonate another user or misrepresent your affiliation;
- Use bots, scrapers, or other automated means to access the Service;
- Upload or share unlawful, offensive, or harmful content;
- Interfere with the normal functioning of the Service.
5. Expense Sharing and Payments
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the expenses you create or share. Although the Service may offer future settlement capabilities:
- Piefect Inc. is not responsible for the accuracy, timing, or completion of any payments;
- You must verify balances and ensure mutual agreement among participants;
- Settlement features will be subject to third-party payment provider terms.
6. Receipt Scanning and Data Use
The receipt scanning functionality uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract data. While we strive for accuracy:
- We do not guarantee all information will be captured correctly;
- You are responsible for verifying and editing all scanned expense entries.
Piefect Inc. may use anonymized data to improve service performance and analytics.
The Service, including all content, features, and functionality, is the property of Piefect Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal use. You may not:
- Reproduce, modify, or distribute the Service or its content;
- Reverse engineer or decompile any part of the software;
- Use our trademarks without written permission.
Some features may integrate third-party tools, such as payment processors or storage providers. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. Piefect Inc. is not liable for the actions or policies of third parties.
Your use of the Service is subject to our [Privacy Policy], which describes how we collect, use, and share your data. You are responsible for maintaining the privacy and security of your own information when using the Service.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any breach of these Terms or applicable law. Upon termination:

The Service is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis. Piefect Inc. makes no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, regarding the use or the results of the Service in terms of its correctness, accuracy, reliability, or otherwise. You acknowledge and agree that:
- We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that defects will be corrected.
- We do not guarantee that any data entered, stored, or retrieved through the Service will be accurate, complete, or up to date.
- We do not warrant that the Service will meet your specific needs or expectations.
- The use of receipt scanning and OCR technology is inherently subject to data capture errors; users must verify extracted content.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Piefect Inc. disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:
- Implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose;
- Non-infringement of intellectual property rights;
- Any warranties arising from a course of dealing, usage, or trade practice.
You use the Service at your own risk. Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the Service is done at your own discretion and risk. You are solely responsible for any damage to your device, loss of data, or other harm that results from such use.
This disclaimer applies to any damages or injury caused by any failure of performance, error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, computer virus, communication line failure, unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of the Service, whether for breach of contract, tort, negligence, or under any other cause of action.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Piefect Inc. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of data or profits, arising out of:
- Use or inability to use the Service;
- Unauthorized access to your data;
- Any conduct or content of third parties.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Piefect Inc., its affiliates, officers, and employees from any claims, losses, damages, and expenses (including legal fees) arising out of:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your violation of these Terms;
- Your interaction with other users.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting on our website with the updated Effective Date. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
15. Governing Law, Dispute Resolution, and Arbitration
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California.
Binding Arbitration Agreement (U.S. Users Only)
If you reside in the United States, you agree that any claim or dispute relating to your use of the Service shall be resolved by binding, individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration will occur in Los Angeles County, California unless both parties agree otherwise.
You agree to waive your right to a jury trial and to participate in any class action or representative proceeding. Each party is responsible for its own legal costs, except as otherwise determined by the arbitrator.
Exceptions to Arbitration
Either party may pursue a claim in small claims court or seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property disputes.
16. Data Hosting and Cloud Infrastructure
The Service is hosted on cloud infrastructure operated by U.S.-based service providers. Your data, including personal and transactional information, may be stored and processed on servers located in the United States.
By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and storage of your information in the United States, regardless of your country of residence. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.
17. Pricing and In-App Purchases
The application is free to download and includes general functionality at no cost. However, additional features and premium services may be offered as in-app purchases or subscription plans (monthly or yearly), processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Users will be clearly informed about the pricing and duration of any premium features or subscriptions before confirming a purchase.
- Subscriptions can be canceled at any time through your respective app store settings.
- We are committed to transparency: any new charges, upgrades, or feature unlocks will be communicated clearly to you in advance.
